Centennial School District will receive more than $20,000 in payment and credit for errors made in the McDonald Elementary School construction.
The contractors in charge of building Centennial School District's new Region 2 Elementary School will cover the costs of heat pump damage and construction debris runoff, an official told Patch. Quakertown-based contractor Penn Builders Inc. has agreed to cover a total of $20,130 in costs stemming from errors made with the projected $28.7 million construction at McDonald Elementary School. The school board, at its recent meeting, approved a credit adjustment of $10,000 for the deductible Centennial paid for heat pump damages. "A welder was doing some work either on the roof or just below the roof and did not take preactuions and set on fire several units," school board member Kati Driban told Patch. After years of anticipation, crews have begun preparing for the construction of a new Wawa store on Street Road, between CVS Pharmacy and CollisionMax.
One of the most popular questions asked by readers since the launch of Warminster Patch in 2010 has been, "When are they going to build that new Wawa?" From the looks of things, the answer is "very soon." A temporary fence has been installed and construction vehicles are hard at work on preparing the site between the CVS Pharmacy and CollisionMax on Street Road for the coming of the popular convenience store/sandwich shop/gas station. A separate Beneficial Savings Bank building is also planned for the same parcel. The project had been delayed for years over site plans, traffic light issues, driveway access, reducing the nuisance for the nearby residential neighborhood, and, near the end, just getting the final paperwork filed.

Repairs will take place over the summer and should be completed by the start of the 2013-14 academic year, according to school board members.
The Centennial School Board recently approved a bid to replace the roof at Log College Middle School and to patch the roof at Klinger Middle School. The bid was awarded to Jottan, Inc. of Florence, N.J. at a cost of $1,472,523 for Log College and $54,800 for Klinger. The roof at Log College Middle School will receive a complete replacement, while the roof at Klinger Middle School will by patched, with total replacement to take place at a later date. “We are leaning toward [the year of] 14-15 for the replacing the roof at Klinger,” said Board Member Michael Hartline. The Jaymor Road/James Way detour will be a thing of the past come next month, according to PennDOT.
Back in January, the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority began work on a water main replacement project on the portion of County Line Road between Jaymor Road and Huntingdon Pike (Rte 232). When the project began, officials estimated that the project would be finished by April 6. Despite a few weather-related setbacks, PennDOT says the project appears to be pretty close to following the initial timeline. PennDOT Community Relations Coordinator Charles Metzger said as of the last update, the BCWSA would be handing over the roadway on April 13, barring no problems. “Weather can affect that date, also when you are digging up stuff you never know what you might find,” he said. “But so far it looks good for the 13th.” Metzger said once …

The construction at the new Region 2 Elementary School is still running behind schedule, despite moving a little closer to to the original projected timeline
Construction at the new Region 2 Elementary School is running approximately three weeks behind schedule, according to official reports. Mike Crain of Reynolds Construction Management told members of the Centennial School Board Operations Committee that the project was approximately 24 days behind schedule. "That is a lot better than it was a couple of months ago, when it was about 40 days behind," he said. Crain also asked the members of the committee to consider a change order estimated at $24,000. He said unlike the plans for the Davis School, there is no trash dock at tne new McDonald building. Traffic restrictions at County Line and York roads has caused a build up of traffic congestion at the busy intersection. The section is expected to be complete by next week.
Traveling along the County Line and York road intersection has its harrowing moments, but the past two weeks have been practically impossible for motorists. The ongoing project to replace seven miles of water main pipes made a stop at the intersection last week, forcing the stretch of road down to two lanes while crews prevented drivers from making left turns during late morning hours into the early afternoon. For example, if you are traveling westbound on County Line, and wanted to turn left on York, workers will stop you and direct you to keep driving on County Line. This past weekend's railroad replacement was just the appetizer for the entree of major construction scheduled to begin today on County Line Road and last into April 2013. The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority will start replacing the water main along County Line Road, a project that starts at Valley Road and extends to the turnpike overpass in Upper Southampton. Crews will reduce the traffic to one lane at each phase of the project as it is completed. Commuters should expect delays and attempt to find alternate routes for travel.
