Gas Prices Drop Heading Into Holiday

As Easter approaches, gas is at a 3-year low. Find the cheapest gas in Warminster.

March has seen a steady decline in gas prices to the point that gas is cheaper now than last year. AAA continues to predict that the national average will crest lower than recent years as we head deeper into spring, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In 2011 the national average for regular unleaded peaked at $3.98 on May 5. In 2012 the price peaked at $3.94 on April 5. The national average this week is $3.658 for a gallon, down 3.4 cents from last week. The Pennsylvania average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.673, down 2.5 cents from a week ago. AAA reports that it is still too soon to say whether retail prices have already peaked for the spring because there is still refinery maintenance to be completed …

Find the cheapest gas in Warminster.

The national average for a gallon of gas has increased for 34 consecutive days, rising 47 cents or more than 14 percent during this stretch, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. This is the longest streak since the price increased 44 cents over 44 days March 22 - May 5, 2011. Locally, the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Bucks and Montgomery is $3.777, up 5.7 cents since last week, 31.9 cents higher than a month ago and 11.7 cents higher than a year ago. Gas Prices Drop a Nickel

Gas prices tend to fall from September through Christmas, the AAA said.

Gas prices dropped an average of 6.3 cents in Pennsylvania and 4.5 cents in Bucks and Montgomery counties from a week ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Nationally, the average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.810, down 4.9 cents from last week. Historically, gas prices tend to fall from September through Christmas. AAA expects this trend, which has held true for seven of the previous nine years, to continue in 2012 and predicts that the national average price will continue to fall as we approach the end of the year. For the last several months, rising global crude oil prices have contributed to high gas prices, but that trend has recently reversed. If you spotted a good price on gas in the Warminster area, tell us in comments…

AAA: As Summer Ends, Gas Prices Will Drop

Find the cheapest gas in Warminster Patch.

In Pennsylvania, today’s average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.800 up 2.1 cents from a week ago, but prices should drop as demand decreases with the end of the summer driving season, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. However, the report indicates, regional supply and distribution issues, hurricane concerns or market moving events could keep prices higher temporarily in the coming months. In the Bucks and Montgomery Counties, the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.826 per gallon, which is up 1.5 cents from a week ago, 15.9 cents higher than a month ago and 14 cents higher than a year ago. Locally, the cheapest price for regular is $3.72 at U.S. Gas at 228 E. Street Road. If you spotted a better price, tell…

Gas Prices Rise 8 Cents in a Week

After a slight drop in the last week of July, gas prices increase about 8 cents in the first week of August.

In the Montgomery and Bucks and area, the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.701 per gallon, which is 7.6 cents higher than a week ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In the last week of July, prices dropped about 1 cent per gallon, but the report indicates that prices for crude oil moved above $90 a barrel after a positive U.S. jobs report on Friday. More employment means more fuel is in demand and that pushes prices higher. The local pump prices are 26.4 cents higher than a month ago but 6.9 cents lower than a year ago. Locally, the best price for regular is $3.58 at the Giant gas station on Street Road. If you spotted a better price, tell us in comments.   8/7/12 WEEK AGO YEAR AGO National $3.634 $3.500…

How Far Will Gas Prices Drop?

AAA says prices are the lowest they've been since January.

Gas prices have fallen below $3.50 a gallon for the first time since January, AAA Mid-Atlantic reported this week. “Not since late-January of this year have we seen gas prices in the Philadelphia area below the $3.50 per gallon mark,” said Jenny M. Robinson, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.  “Now that crude oil has settled in the $80 range, down from a triple digit highs this spring, gas prices are shifting downward as well.  Analysts believe the recent drop in prices will likely last through the summer months and could potentially drop to the $3.00 to $3.25 per gallon range in some areas.” According to the release, the average price for gas in the Philadelphia region fell six cents last week, following a drop…
