Gas Prices Drop Heading Into Holiday

As Easter approaches, gas is at a 3-year low. Find the cheapest gas in Warminster.

March has seen a steady decline in gas prices to the point that gas is cheaper now than last year. AAA continues to predict that the national average will crest lower than recent years as we head deeper into spring, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In 2011 the national average for regular unleaded peaked at $3.98 on May 5. In 2012 the price peaked at $3.94 on April 5. The national average this week is $3.658 for a gallon, down 3.4 cents from last week. The Pennsylvania average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.673, down 2.5 cents from a week ago. AAA reports that it is still too soon to say whether retail prices have already peaked for the spring because there is still refinery maintenance to be completed …

Gas Prices Decline Slightly

Find the cheapest gas in Warminster.

Drivers in every state are paying more at the pump than a month ago; however, Pennsylvania drivers are beginning to get some relief, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Gas prices in the state have dropped 3.4 cents from a week ago and 3.5 cents in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. With “spot” gasoline prices (gasoline sold for immediate payment and delivery) also dropping dramatically across the country, it is likely that retail prices will continue to fall in the coming days, the report states. These recent declines and the fact that the national retail average has fallen below the year-ago price supports AAA’s prediction that gas prices will peak this spring at a lower level than recent years. Locally, the average price for a gallon of …

Gas Prices Remain Steady This Week

Find the cheapest gas in Warminster.

In the last month, gas prices have jumped about 30 cents in Bucks and Montgomery, but this last week saw little change, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The surge in gasoline prices has been driven somewhat by rising crude oil prices but more directly because of refinery maintenance issues. This has meant less gasoline being produced and fewer supplies, which has pushed prices higher. Locally, the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Bucks and Montgomery is $3.779, up .7 cents since last week, 30.5 cents higher than a month ago and 4.5 cents higher than a year ago. In Pennsylvania, the average price of self-serve gasoline is now $3.799 per gallon, up 2.6 cents since last week. Nearby, the cheapest price for …

Gas Prices Rise 30 Cents in a Month

Find the cheapest gas in Warminster.

The national average for a gallon of gas has increased for 34 consecutive days, rising 47 cents or more than 14 percent during this stretch, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. This is the longest streak since the price increased 44 cents over 44 days March 22 - May 5, 2011. Locally, the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Bucks and Montgomery is $3.777, up 5.7 cents since last week, 31.9 cents higher than a month ago and 11.7 cents higher than a year ago. In Pennsylvania, the average price of self-serve gasoline is now $3.788 per gallon, up 5.6 cents since last week. One reason for the price increase is the trend of U.S. refineries performing seasonal maintenance and making the switchover to summer blend …

Gas Prices Drop 20 Cents

Find the cheapest gas in the Northampton Township area.

The average price of self-serve regular gas in Bucks and Montgomery Counties dropped nearly 20 cents since last month, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Drivers are feeling relief at the pump across the country as gas prices continue to fall approaching the busy year-end holiday travel season. Prices are down 6.4 cents since last week and 15.1 cents higher than last year. Prices have been driven lower by a number of factors, including the switch to winter-blend fuel—which is less expensive to produce—increased gasoline inventories, cheaper crude oil prices, lower demand and economic concerns.  The national average for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.236; in Pennsylvania it’s $3.447 per gallon and in Bucks and Montgomery …

I bought gas in Ohio last week for $3.06 a gallon, for regular. Some stations were selling gas at $3.02. Too bad we are willing to spend so much more for gasoline here in SE PA.   more ›

AAA: Gas Prices go Down, Travel Goes Up

With gas prices down 50 cents since September, 93.3 million Americans are expected to take a trip this holiday season, an increase of 1.6 percent.

AAA projects 93.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the year-end holidays, an increase of 1.6 percent over the 91.8 million people who traveled last year. This increase brings holiday travel figures to within half a million of the decade high mark seen during the 2006/2007 season. The year-end holiday travel period is defined as Saturday, Dec. 22. to Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. AAA estimates the national average price of gasoline will slowly drop through the end of the year and average between $3.20-3.40 a gallon by New Year’s Day. Gas prices dropped about 50 cents a gallon on average from September through early December, but remain at record highs for this time of year. AAA does not expect gas prices to have a …

Gas Prices Down 3.5 Cents

Find the cheapest gas in Bensalem.

The average price of self-serve regular in Pennsylvania dropped nearly 10 cents in a month, and about 4 cents since last week, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In the Bucks and Montgomery Counties, the average price of a gallon is $3.601 per gallon, which is 3.5 cents lower than a week ago, 9.7 cents lower than a month ago and 24.7 cents higher than a year ago. While national retail gas prices have declined each day during the past week, crude oil prices have increased slightly, as market attention has focused on the impact of the looming U.S. fiscal cliff, the report states. That means though gas prices usually decline this time of year, the economic uncertainty has slowed that decline.. Locally, the cheapest price for regular is $3.…

Last week I bought gas in Ohio for $3.32 a gallon. It's not as cheap as it could be in PA. The reason we pay high prices is because in Ohio, when gas goes up, people stop driving, they car pool, they use public transportation. Here in SE PA when gas goes up, we get in line to buy more.   more ›

AAA: Gas prices could drop 50 Cents by Year’s End

Find the cheapest gas in Warminster.

Gas prices dropped, on average, 1.5 cents in Pennsylvania and 1.1 cents in Bucks and Montgomery Counties from a week ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.685, down 22.4 cents from a month ago and 21.7 cents higher than a year ago. After Hurricane Sandy, there continues to be a distribution problem and not a systemic issue with gasoline supplies in New York and New Jersey. There is plenty of gasoline ready to make its way to stations, but it has to get there first. Once this distribution gets fully back online, AAA expects pump prices in affected areas to follow the rest of the country. AAA predicts that the national average price will be $3.25-$3.40 by Thanksgiving and $3.10-$3.30 by the…

AAA: Politics Isn’t a Solution to High Gas Prices

Gas prices drop 8 cents since last week.

After Labor Day, AAA predicted that gas prices across the country would drop leading up to Election Day, and will move even lower approaching the end of the year. And that’s exactly what’s happening. For the second week, gas prices dipped, this week, by an average of 13 cents a gallon, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In the Bucks and Montgomery Counties, the average price of a gallon is $3.807 per gallon, which is 8.1 cents lower than a week ago, 11.8 cents lower than a month ago and 29.3 cents higher than a year ago. High gas prices continue to not just be a front-of-mind issue for motorists, but also a frequent topic in Washington. AAA has consistently noted, because it is a publically traded global commodity, there is no sliver-…
