According to a statement on its website, the owners of the Warminster-based animal center want to concentrate efforts on constructing a state-of-the-art facility somewhere in Bucks County.
The Bucks County Zoo and Conservation Society will be temporarily closing its doors to the public effective October 9, to regroup and refocus its efforts on constructing a permanent, state-of-the-art, LEED certified facility within the Bucks County area. Special viewing hours will be available between Sept. 29 and Oct. 1 and Oct. 7 through Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all days. Bucks County Zoo and Conservation Society is looking for a newer, bigger location. To raise funds, the zoo held its second annual open house.
The Bucks County Zoo and Conservation Society is one step closer to nabbing a larger facility to give animals more space, as well as expand the zoo. The zoo—which was established in April of 2006—hosted its second annual Open House, bringing an estimated 1,000 people. Free of cost to attendees, the event was to help educate youngsters while raising money through donations. Along with caged animals, attendees got to interact with snakes, an armadillo and even a baby tiger. I know for a fact that the animals were quite happy. They were harness-trained and got walked around often, and always received proper enrichment. They were most certainly NOT abused and busybodies such as Bessey need to get their facts straight before they begin trashing a reputable organization.
