Snow to Give Way to Clear Skies and Mild Temps

Old Man Winter got you down? According to the National Weather Service there is no need to worry: a change is in the forecast for this weekend.

Had enough of the winter weather? Don't despair —the National Weather Service says the skies above Warminster will be clear by Saturday.  Here's a look at the NWS's weekend forecast for Warminster:

School Buses Might Be Late for Pick-Up Friday Morning

School district officials said the weather has caused several accidents on Street Road, impeding the buses' route of travel.

Centennial School District recently issued the following statement: Due to several accidents in the proximity of the intersection of Street Rd and Centennial Rd (none involving school buses), many of our vehicles are running behind schedule for the Middle School and Elementary/Parochial School routes. The police have also informed us that Reeves Lane into McDonald Elementary School is blocked off and cannot be accessed. Please be patient as our vehicles arrive at the scheduled bus stops as soon as is safely possible. If you have questions about specific vehicles/routes, please call the Transportation Department at 215-441-6000 ext 11062.

A Week Of Winter Ahead

Winter's making a prolonged appearance this week...and it could snow more than once before the week is out.

The incoming cold regime will bring some rather cold temperatures by Philadelphia standards to our region ― highs on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday may not break 30 degrees as we get in the grip of some pretty cold air across the eastern half of the nation.  This cold has been largely in the Great Basin so far this month ― parts of Nevada are running more than twenty degrees below normal!  Temperatures here won't be that cold, but could go down to ten degrees colder than average over the coming week. Along with the incoming cold, light snow and flurries could cross the region later on Monday with a weak clipper and also on Wednesday with a relatively weak disturbance.  Monday's system may be more substantive than Wednesday's but either …

Warminster Sees First Heavy Snowfall of the Season

The accumulation started at about 9 a.m. in Warminster, with one to two inches total expected for the day.

What began Tuesday morning as a modest storm quickly built up to the first significant snowfall of the season. According to the National Weather Service, the Warminster-Doylestown area will accumulate between 2 and 4 inches of snow before the day is finished. A mixture of snow and rain has hit the area all day, affecting the morning commute and possibly being a factor when a child was struck by a school bus at Street and Centennial roads. The slushy conditions make for another slippery ride in the afternoon drive, so drivers are asked to remain cautious. The National Weather Service says the precipitation will end tonight, with a sunny, but chilly, outlook for the rest of the week.

Snow Possible Tuesday, Chilly Rest Of Week

A chilly week of weather is ahead of us...and light snow may be in the forecast for Tuesday.

This month is shaping up as not only our first month of below average temperatures since August of last year, but also, potentially, the coldest November since the late 1990s.   Before you fret and wonder if this is the beginning of a long, cold winter of discontent, November is not necessarily a harbinger of what winter will bring. Several cold Novembers have been followed by warm winters (2007, 1997, 1996 to name three over the last couple of decades). This November will close on the same chilled note on which it began, as temperatures for the balance of the month will average out a few degrees below normal. Included in that chill this week is the potential for some light snow on Tuesday. At this point, it looks likely that precipitation…

Centennial to Remain Open Wednesday; Some Services Cancelled

The district is canceling all afternoon and evening activities and will not offer late bus service.

Despite the inclement weather has moved into the region, Centennial Schools will remain open this afternoon. However, the district has cancelled all afternoon and evening activities. All buildings will be closed this evening except for the Administration building. And unless otherwise notified, the Operations Committee Meeting scheduled for this evening will be held. The district will not be providing late bus service.

Soggy, Perhaps Snowy Midweek Storm

There was nothing nice about the weather last week. There will be nothing nice about Wednesday's storm, either, but odds favor wonderful fall weather ahead.

Many people still are picking up the pieces across our region in the wake of Hurricane Sandy's wrath last week.   Millions lost power at one point, billions of dollars in damage was likely done, and numerous communities were ravaged by the wrath of a late season hurricane that will never be forgotten for this region. Pouring salt on that open wound is the likelihood that another coastal storm could impact the region on Wednesday into Thursday.   Computer modeling suggests the brunt of this storm will be felt on Wednesday afternoon into Thursday before the storm pulls away.  It will not be as strong as Sandy, but the potential for 50 m.p.h. wind gusts at the shore and 30 m.p.h. gusts across the Philly suburbs is enough to cause additional …
