William Tennent Not Among Top US High Schools, Newsweek Says

Do you think WTHS is a top school?

Newsweek recently ranked the top 2000 high schools in the United States; William Tennent High School did not make the list.  For its rankings, Newsweek sent out a survey to more than 5,000 high schools in the U.S., with about 2,500 schools responding. You can see the details about the schools in our area that made the cut by clicking on the markers in the interactive map above. The survey scores were then weighted and calculated using several criteria, including on-time graduation and college acceptance rates. In addition, instead of averaging the number of courses offered, this year Newsweek considered the percentage of students enrolled in AP, IB or Advance International Certificate courses. I was fortunate enough to not attend Tennent and did attend a very good college. However when I was looking for a better education system for my children,I was mistaken in thinking that Centennial was the better choose in all of bucks county. To my dismay, I have found wonderful teachers who are hampered by a school board that are more concerned with social status symbols than educational values…   more ›

Former Tennent Football Coach to be Inducted into WCU Hall of Fame

The veteran math teacher is also an all-star athlete and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at his alma matter, West Chester University, Friday night.

Frank Petrone may be a brain at Arcola Intermediate School in Eagleville, but he's got a storied history as a jock. That history will be celebrated this Friday, April 19, when Petrone will be inducted into West Chester University's W. Glenn Killinger Football Hall of Fame. Petrone, a 7th-grade math teacher at Arcola, played defensive lineman at WCU in the late 1960s/early '70s and continued his gridiron career as an assistant coach at Bishop Kenrick and William Tennant high schools. Petrone and his wife Linda currently live in Cedars. He is the father of two children, Andria Petrone Bagley of Boston, Mass. and Phillip Petrone of Conshohocken. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place during the annual Killinger Foundation Banquet…

WTHS Graduation Set for June 20

This will also be the last day of school for all students across Centennial School District.

The Centennial Board of School Directors officially approved the last day of school for all of the district's students Tuesday evening. The last day of classes for students throughout the district will be Thursday, June 20. This will also be the graduation date for seniors at William Tennent High School. The last day of school will be a half-day for all students, Kindergarten through 12th grade; there will be no afternoon Kindergarten sessions. 

WTHS Presents 'West Side Story'

Three performances will be held in the high school's auditorium this weekend.

The students of William Tennent High School will perform 'West Side Story' this weekend. Three performances will be held this weekend: Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. "We have an amazing amount of talent within this group," said Director Julie Flack. "We are excited about the performances." Tickets are available at the door. The box office will open one half-hour before each performance. Cost is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Fox Family Announces the Birth of Brad Jr.

The fallen Plymouth Township Police Officer's wife gave birth Monday morning just before 9 a.m.

The Fox Family and the Plymouth Police Department announced that Brad Fox, Jr. was born Monday at 8:48 a.m. Plymouth Township Police Officer Brad Fox, Sr. was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 13. Fox was an alum of William Tennent High School.  Brad Jr. weighs 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and is 20.75 inches long. Brad Jr. and his mother, Lynsay, are resting comfortably. This is the couple's second child; they have a daughter, Kadence, 1.

Tennent Grad to Appear in 'Bates Motel' on A&E

Mike Vogel will appear as Deputy Zach Shelby in A&E Network's prequel to Hitchcock's 'Psycho.'

William Tennent Alum Mike Vogel will hold a reoccurring role in "Bates Motel," premiering Monday evening at 10 p.m. on A&E. The series is touted as a prequel to the 1960's Alfred Hitchcock horror classic "Psycho." Vogel will play Deputy Zach Shelby, a character described as “a completely engaging, attractive, intelligent sociopath,” on the actor's website. Vogel, 33, graduated from WTHS in 1998. He has a long list of film credits including roles in  Poseidon, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Vogel was also a cast member in the television series Grounded for Life and more recently Pan Am, a series on ABC.

Warminster Symphony Orchestra to Perform at WTHS Saturday

Eric Werner, a former member of the William Tennent High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, as well as the school's Chorus and Madrigal Singers, will return to perform with the Orchestra.

The Warminster Symphony Orchestra will present The Capital Singers in performance with the Orchestra on Saturday evening, March 16 at 8 p.m. in the William Tennent High School Auditorium. “The Warminster Symphony is thrilled to present The Capital Singers at our March concert,” said Joseph Lovecchio, the orchestra’s music director and conductor. “I believe that the audience will be captivated and lifted by the majesty of the music on this exceptional program," he said.  "For lovers of choral music especially, this is a concert not to be missed.”  The program will include 'Choral Fantasy' and “Hallelujah” from Christ on the Mount of Olives by Ludwig Van Beethoven and 'A Distant Land' by John Rutte Soloists for the Choral Fantasy include …
