ID of Police Officer Who Killed Bystander Revealed in Court

The police officer who in February shot Marie Zienkewicz, 89, identifies himself in court.

The police officer who killed an 89-year-old neighbor of the man involved in a shootout with police at a Warminster apartment complex in February has identified himself in court.  Warminster officer Sean Harold said at a preliminary hearing on Thursday for Andrew G. Cairns that he was the one who shot Marie Zienkewicz during the February incident, according to a story on PhillyBurbs.com. Thursday's preliminary hearing, however, centered around a murder charge against Cairns.  "Harold testified that he saw a door open and someone reaching out as if possibly pointing a handgun. So he fired four shots, one of them hitting and killing Marie Zienkewicz," the story said.  Warminster Patch stories indicate the incident began around 4 p.m. Feb. 19…

It is not Off.Harold's fault that he was given the wrong information. He showed up that night to attempt to stop a madman who was putting the entire community around him in danger. The officer was being shot at and when that door opened he had every legal right to return fire to protect himself and the residents who lived there! That's why he is not being charged with any crime. The …   more ›

LISTEN: 911 Calls From Night of Warminster Police Shooting

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office released portions of Deborah Silva's 911 call during the alleged shootout between Andrew Cairns and Warminster Police at the Jefferson on the Creek apartment complex.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler said Deborah Silva was on the phone with a 911 operator during the time the fatal shot was fired that struck and killed her neighbor, 89-year-old Marie Zienkewicz.  Heckler said Silva called police that evening to report that her boyfriend, Andrew Cairns, had locked himself in his bedroom and fired two shots from his pistol.  According to Heckler, that call turned into a 27 minute conversation between Silva and a 911 dispatcher, with the fatal shot that killed Zienkewicz being fired by police around 17 minutes into the call.   "Listening to the tape of that communication, of Ms. Silva who is obviously intoxicated in one way or another, is one of the most maddingly, frustrating experiences I have…

Confusing Addresses Cited in Accidental Police Shooting

The Bucks County District Attorney says a 'perfect storm of events' led to the tragic police shooting of 89-year-old Marie Zienkewicz.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler said that the accidental shooting by police of an 89-year-old Warminster woman was partly caused by the the non sequential door-numbering system at the apartment complex where she lived. Heckler said that when Marie Zienkewicz opened her door Feb. 20 to help her neighbor during a shootout at the Jefferson on the Creek Apartments, police believed it was the gunman emerging from his apartment. Heckler said the apartment numbering system utilized by Jefferson on the Creek, coupled with a low-light situation, led police to fire at Zienkewicz in what he called "a tragic mistake." With how they said she was shot through and through and the angle of the entry and exit of the bullet, it came from an officers gun.... But like we all know we have to wait for all the paperwork and evidence to be done and gone through... Not jumping to conclusions just reading what was wrote and how it sounds it came from one of Warminsters finest!   more ›
