Hurricane Sandy: The Day After

The worst of the storm has passed, but many in Warminster and Bucks County are still without power and face possible flood conditions.

As Sandy moves north to the New England area, Warminster and Bucks County now have to deal with the aftermath. As of 9 a.m., PECO reports that more than 3,500 customers are without power in the township and more than 50,000 in the county. Rain and heavy winds are still expected throughout the day, so continue to stay safe in your home until it dies down. JP Mascaro trash service will resume on Thursday for Warminster Township. Monday and Tuesday trash will be collected on Thursday and Friday. Recycling and yard waste will be picked up on the following Monday and Tuesday. Centennial and Archdiocesan schools are still closed today, including afternoon and evening activities. All Bucks County non-essential offices are also closed. Emergency …

Flooding has not yet been a huge issue for Warminster, but the strong winds are creating problems with flying debris and power outages. Warminster Declares Local Disaster Emergency

The township made the announcement at 11 a.m. Monday morning.

Warminster Township declared a Local Disaster Emergency due to the impending weather conditions from Hurricane Sandy. Record amounts of rainfall, high winds, and flooding conditions are anticipated within the township. Local areas that commonly flood and low-lying areas will most likely experience flooding. Residents should monitor floodwaters and waterways near their homes. As floodwaters rise, it may become necessary to leave your home for higher ground. Emergency crews will be working to meet all emergency needs and may be actively engaged. The township also encourages all residents who have not left their homes, to consider leaving on their own if you are able to safely do so, before it becomes necessary to have emergency crews …
